Sangria is a gorgeous powder-based Milk Paint color that brings historic farmhouse character to furniture projects. It offers a beautiful, breathable flat matte finish that can be distressed or sealed with hemp oil or furniture wax for extra protection. Mix it 1:1 with water for a smooth-as-butter paint or add more water for a light color stain.

Do I need to seal Fusion Milk Paint?
Yes. Milk paint cures to a soft, breathable, porous finish, so I always seal it to protect the surface and lock everything in. A coat of hemp oil or wax deepens the color a little and gives you a wipeable, hard-wearing top. It is a quick step and well worth it.
Will Sangria give a chippy finish?
Over an old sealed finish, Sangria can chip and flake in that authentic, aged farmhouse way, which a lot of people are after. On raw wood it soaks in more like a soft stain and stays put. If you want solid, predictable coverage instead of chippiness, add a bonding agent to your first coat to control it.
How do I mix Fusion Milk Paint?
It comes as a powder, so you mix equal parts powder and warm water and whisk until smooth. I make small batches and only mix what I need for the coat in front of me, since it is freshest that way. Let it sit a couple of minutes, give it one more stir, and you are ready to paint.
Do I need bonding agent?
Only if you want smooth, even coverage without any chipping. Bonding agent mixed into your first coat of Sangria helps the paint grip slick or previously sealed surfaces so it lays down solid instead of flaking. If you love the farmhouse chippy look, skip it and let Sangria do its natural thing.
